The New York Defensive unit has not stopped the run quite as well as they would like to or as well as they have in recent years. So far this season, the Jets have given up 100 yards of rushing to every opponent except one. And in the game against Oakland, New York gave up 234 yards on the ground.

The Oakland Raiders beat the Cleveland Browns, 24-17, this past Sunday. The Raiders ended the day with 151 yards of rushing, their 5th game this season of 100 yards or more in a game.

Last week the offensive line had some problems in pass protection. This week, the Raiders front 5 had a very good game in both run blocking and pass blocking. And the Raiders just might have found the fullback they need to finish out the season (FB scores, here) The lineman did miss a couple of loop stunts…but for the most part it was an encouraging day.

This week Jared Veldeer stepped it up in the passing game by recording a 88% assignments grade and a +5 power score. The high power score tells us that Veldeer dictated the action in pass protection this week more than he was dominated.

The Oakland Raiders overcame the loss of their starting quarterback Jason Campbell and battled to a 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

The victory over the Browns improved the Raiders’ record to an impressive 4-2. Similar to last week, the Raiders found a way to win a game they desperately needed to win. It appears they Raiders are here to stay.

The Oakland Raiders send the Browns back to Cleveland with a 24-17 loss. The win raises Oakland’s record to 4-2 while the Browns drop to 2-3.

This week, Manase Tango demonstrated why the Raiders brought him up from the practice squad…it’s because he can block. Oakland had been having some issues at the fullback position from the beginning of the 2011 season. After trying a couple of different options, they turned to Tango. And he has delivered. Manase Tango had an assignments grade of 84% this week with a +3 power score.
